Atlanta - GRAMMY U Fall Kick-Off Panel + Networking Mixer: State of the Music Industry Today

On October 2, 2009, the Atlanta Chapter and GRAMMY U partnered with the A3C Hip Hop Festival to celebrate Atlanta's indie hip-hop scene with the “State Of The Industry” panel, a GRAMMY Professional Development Event. Over 120 attendees participated in an evening of dialogue with urban music's top industry executives about the current state of the music industry. Panelists included: 9th Wonder (producer), Isha Edwards (brand marketing manager – EPiC Measures, LLC), Laura Giles (partner, MusicBusinessPolitics), Eddie Weathers (president of a&r So So Def), Dee Dee Murray (exec. dir., THE K.I.N.G. Foundation) and Cappriccieo Scates (associate director, SESAC) who moderated the panel. Audience members were able to text in their questions for the panelists to their GU campus representatives. Questions ranged from the panelists’ beginnings, to how the entertainment industry factors into or affects the political arena, to the affect on the music business with the creation of the 360 Deal. Following the panel, there was a networking mixer.
