The Atlanta Chapter hosted "What’s Next?" at the Galloway School on May 26 featuring a panel organized by the Chapter's Education Committee and spearheaded by Jay Wucher, Chapter Education Chair. The workshop aimed to assist music educators in finding out what opportunities in or out of the music field might be available for individuals newly unemployed by local school districts. Panelists included Kerren Berz, Isha Edwards, Laura Giles, Jeremy Haselwood, Angela Henry, Gwen Hughes, and Mary Catherine Sneed. Jay Wucher moderated the event.

This event was specifically designed to provide general and perhaps industry information relating to ideas of where to seek or create new work opportunities; provide opportunities for attendees to network with the music community and with each other; provide resources such as key contact information, websites, and other types of resources to guide attendees on their quest to find employment; and to introduce attendees to The Recording Academy, its purpose, mission, and benefits of membership

The metropolitan Atlanta-area schools have experienced a severe budget crisis that has adversely affected the quality of education provided by the local school systems. Particularly hard hit have been the music education programs.

The Education Committee of the Atlanta Chapter, in cooperation with the Georgia Music Educators Association, has collaborated on an initiative to help teachers and prospective teachers who are seeking employment in music education, the music industry or fields of employment that match the skills and talents of music educators.
