Austin- GRAMMY Block Party during SXSW

The Texas Chapter hosted approximately 600 Recording Academy members and guests from all 12 Chapters for their first GRAMMY Block Party, benefiting MusiCares, during South by Southwest 2011(SXSW). Guests kicked off their weekend of music with fantastic performances by GRAMMY-nominated Ruthie Foster, GRAMMY-nominated Hanson, and four-time GRAMMY winner Jimmie Vaughan.    

Lady Bird Lake made a great back drop for the Block Party – guests mingling and enjoying the marvelous weather on the lawn of the Four Seasons in downtown Austin catching up with old friends and music industry peers. Ruthie Foster began the musical evening with her soulful melodies drawing the audience to the stage.  Hanson wowed the crowd with a new rock and soul sound – driving members old and new to groove to the rhythm. Jimmie Vaughan and his band followed with an equally amazing show of upbeat blues and musicians showcasing their talent.

The Texas Chapter’s first annual GRAMMY Block Party was an incredible success and a valuable event for members to attend while in town for SXSW 2011. The event was filled with fun and provided exclusive networking opportunities amongst our community from across the country.  Attendees left with a true sense of what Austin, The Live Music Capital of the World, is truly all about.
