During South By Southwest Music Festival Week 

SXSW Tradeshow Benefit

Planning on going to SXSW? Stop by the SXSW Tradeshow Wednesday, March 14thor Thursday, March 15thto see where the future of media is defined. This unique, four-day exhibition connects leaders in the Music, Film and Interactive industries with the companies and agencies needed to succeed. To have a Tradeshow badge reserved for you, email grammyutexas@grammy.comwith your first and last name, university, city, chapter, email address, and phone number by February 10th. You must be a GRAMMY U member to participate. Limited spots are available! You will receive an email with details upon confirmation.

GRAMMY Block Party

Due to space limitations for Academy Voting and Associate members across the country attending this event during SXSW, we are unable to accommodate GRAMMY U members to attend the event complimentary. GRAMMY U members may pay a $50 admission fee or they can sign up for at least one of the volunteer positions below. Please reply to christee.albino@grammy.comwith NAME, COLLEGE, EMAIL, PHONE NUMBER, and the shift(s) you are interested in working.

Performance Opportunity at DMI House

Dart Music International is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to introduce people in our part of the world to the modern face of people and cultures from around the globe through cool indie/rock/pop music. Their programs make it financially and logistically possible for artists to travel to our part of the world while promoting personal interactions between peers from different countries through the common bond of music.

March 12 – 18, DMI is hosting a week long showcase for international artists at German Free School, including 3 spots available to GRAMMY U bands on March 12th, 13th, or 14thfrom 9:00-10:00p.m. To be considered, you must submit the following to grammyutexas@grammy.comby February 15th. You will be notified if accepted no later than March 1st.

Other Opportunities

 

Concert Video Production

If you are interested in the learning how music videos are shot, this is the perfect opportunity for you. API Productions has filmed music videos for Grammy-nominated bands, directed concert films for multi-platinum artists, project managed and directed live webcasts, and has filmed and directed. They have a few shoots coming up in March and are willing to have a couple interested students come and observe the process! 

Please note that you will be observing only and no work will be involved. In addition, you must be 21 years old to apply as some shoots take place in bars. To apply, email grammyutexas@grammy.comwith your name, school, age, major, and phone number.

MTV University VJ

MTV-U is looking for a college student with mega-personality and a passion for indie music to be a correspondent for the 2012 mtvU Woodie Awards. Our correspondent will get the chance to report on all things music out on the road at the Woodies Tour, headlined by Young The Giant, and then live at the Awards in March. If you think you’ve got what it takes, and you’re currently in the NYC, Austin or Chicago area, send us a video at woodiehost@gmail.comand tell us why you should be chosen for the gig. Please include your name, contact info (phone #), college and favorite artists in the email, along with a great picture of yourself! 

UT GRAMMY U Meetings

If you’re looking to network with your peers, get your voice heard, and learn about upcoming event and opportunities, come to the monthly GRAMMY U meetings hosted at UT. The meeting dates are:
