New Orleans & Lafayette - Songwriting Business is subject of Louisiana Workshops

Feb. 28 and March 1, the Memphis Chapter presented “The Business of the Song” in New Orleans and Lafayette, La. respectively. Music publishing workshops were held at New Orleans’ Music Shed and Tipitina’s Co-Op Office in Lafayette. Panel discussions covered networking, publishing, pitching songs and various ways to make money with your music. The panels featured publisher Mike Molinar, A&R man Kim Stephens, songwriters Jim McCormick, Mark Carson and Gordon Bradberry and moderators Ashlye Keaton (New Orleans) and Johnny Palazzotto (Lafayette). Enthusiastic audiences at both locations asked great questions and came away with deeper understanding of that old music business adage, “It all starts with a song.”
