New York - Beyonce at Roseland Ballroom

Beyoncé, one who never fails to amaze, raised the bar (yet again) for live entertainment with four flawless displays at New York City’s Roseland Ballroom. The 16-time GRAMMY winner gave lucky Bey-lovers an opportunity to see her perform her entire album 4 in an exclusive concert series entitled “4 Intimate Nights With Beyoncé” between August 14th and 19th. The pop superstar’s first show sold out in an astonishing 22 seconds, creating a lot of buzz throughout internet blogs, media outlets, and the greater music community. Tickets for the other three nights went on sale after the first show and proceeded to sell out as well.

At the beginning of each performance the 29-year-old appeared, wearing a slinky gold mini-dress, and told her adoring crowd, “Tonight, I want to tell you guys my story”. She recounted the birth of Destiny’s Child, spoke of the band’s early challenges and tribulations, and made a series of cute puns about their ever-changing line-up. Close to half an hour was devoted to a multitude of her greatest hits (including Destiny’s Child hits “Bug A Boo” and “No, No, No”) before rendering virtually all of her latest album released earlier this year. Backed by a 20-piece, all-female orchestra, the singer displayed both the fortitude and lustiness the “big stage” demands. The 90-minute, guest-free show, displayed magnificent contrasts between extravagant light numbers and heartfelt emotional moments. For yet another night, the veteran diva we have come to know and love can rest assured she is still the “Queen Bee”.
