New York - Girls Inc., Power of One: Women in Music with Music Unites

On March 10, The Intrepid Museum's Power of One program partnered with Girls Incorporated for a series of events throughout March. Girls Inc. is a nonprofit organization that inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold through a network of local organizations in the United States and Canada. Girls Inc. responds to the changing needs of girls and their communities through research-based programs and advocacy that empower girls to reach their full potential and to understand, value, and assert their rights.
Music Unites is an organization dedicated to funding and sustaining music education programs in under-served school districts throughout the country. As a non-profit organization, Music Unites partners with established and emerging artists to present concerts which raise awareness and funding for music programs in inner city schools. Music Unites also brings these artists into the schools and communities served by the organization to teach and inspire through the power of music. This Power of One will incorporate recording artist Shontelle, violinist Caitlin Moe; Deux Chattes of the Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls as well as “Empire State of Mind” songwriters, producers and GRAMMY winners Angela Hunte, Jane’t Sewell-Ulepic, Denise Rich (philanthropist and GRAMMY nominated songwriter) Camille Hackney (SVP Brand Partnerships, Commercial Licensing, Atlantic Records Group) and more!
