Texas Rocks On! Holiday Bash

Texas Rocks On! Holiday Bash put the meaning in “bash” and definitely rocked. Over 350 attendees, including members, current GRAMMY nominees and invited community leaders gathered for this red carpet event that took place at the Chapter office and the Gibson Showroom on December 14. Those in attendance included current GRAMMY nominees Michael Salgado, Shauna and Sara Dodds, Mariachi Los Arrieros, and The Band Perry.

Hosted by Texas Chapter President and rapper Paul Wall, the event celebrated the holiday season and paid tribute to the region's GRAMMY nominees and Academy members. The night offered complimentary barbeque and a host bar provided by Tito‘s Handmade Vodka, Shiner Beer, Simply Naked Wine, Sweet Leaf Tea, and Red Bull. Attendees enjoyed networking amongst fellow Academy members and, as always, an exciting line up of performances by our Chapter Board members.

Official State Musician of Texas and an Austin favorite, Sara Hickman, kicked off the night with her smooth voice and a solid group to back her up. Following her performance, Paul Wall took a moment to recognize GRAMMY U Ambassadors at the University of Texas for recruiting the most members to GRAMMY U. And the prize? A pair of grillz from Paul Wall’s jewelry line!

Past GRAMMY® and Latin GRAMMY® nominee Rodney Alejandro also took the stage with 14 year-old up and coming artist Joel Hernandez and Carlos Santana's lead singer Andy Vargas y Souleros. To close the show, Latin GRAMMY winner Carlos Sosa brought the Grooveline Horns and Austin Hip Hop group BoomBox to finish the night with a bang. The music performances demonstrated the talent and diversity of the Texas music landscape.

Furthermore, in light of the recent devastation in Bastrop, The Texas Chapter advocacy committee developed a campaign to help replace music equipment and instruments lost due to the wildfires that affected families throughout Bastrop County. Local Bastrop students who have lost their instruments will be able to bring music back in to their lives with the help of our members. The Chapter marked a successful finale of the instrument drive at Texas Rocks On! Holiday Bash, and encouraged invited guests to bring their donations to place under the Holiday tree.
