Washington, D.C. - An Open Letter About The Healthy Hustle

Washington DC Chapter's picture

This letter was sent to us by GRAMMY U member Michael Hamilton in response to last week's The Healthy Hustle event.

To Whom It May Concern,

I had the pleasure of attending "The Healthy Hustle: Managing Your Mental and Your Money" on Saturday, December 10, 2011, held by The Recording Academy, Washington, D.C. Chapter.  I received a substantial amount of beneficial information regarding health, wellness and fitness in a comfortable environment that encouraged everyone who attended to converse and engage themselves in productive dialogue with the panelists of experts who spoke at the event.  Additionally, MusiCares lent a great hand by informing attendees about the health services that it offers for musicians and music professionals.  Part of this included a free dental health clinic with the Smile Program.  They were there to offer free teeth cleaning and other dental services in which I was able to participate.  Not only was this helpful to me at the time, but also the MusiCares representatives and members of the Smile Program told me to ensure that I follow up regarding future appointments.  It's clear that, overall, everyone involved with the event deeply cares about the health and well-being of musicians and other music professionals because of the nature of the business.  It's one that can take a major toll on the health of people who pursue careers in the industry, and it was great to learn more about the types of health and dental services that are available, as well as funding to help pay for those needs.  I appreciated the dental clinic greatly and how helpful the dental specialists were in informing about how to take better care of my dental health.
