On August 4, GRAMMY U continued its Pizza with the Pros series with multifaceted recording artist, music video director, music executive and fashion designer Tabi Bonney. Presented in partnership with the Art Institute of Washington, a at-capacity crowd of GRAMMY U students were immediately engrossed by Bonney as he discussed his inspirations and the barriers he has faced and worked through to gain recognition in the entertainment industry.
A founder of Cool Kids Forever Films and Bonney Runway, Bonney provided his insights and experiences in the industry from various facets. The interactive discussion covered how students can start their own fashion line to keys to staying relevant in a competitive music scene. Heralding his local ties to D.C., Bonney stressed to the students with artists like himself, Wale, and Raheem DeVaughn attaining national commercial success. D.C.’s rising entertainment scene is garnering more entertainment exposure on television and in music, so it is imperative that all opportunities thrown their way are taken advantage of to the fullest. While everyone’s path to success is different, Bonney stressed that sacrifices are often necessary to open more doors for opportunity. A special thanks to Tabi for taking time out of his busy tour schedule to participate in the event. We look forward to our continued partnership with Art Institute of Washington and bringing professional music makers to interact and inspire our GRAMMY U members.
