May 26, 2010 - 5:00pm - 7:30pm
The metropolitan Atlanta area schools have experienced a severe budget crisis that has adversely the quality of education provided by the local school systems. Particularly hard hit have been the Music Education programs.
The Education Committee of the Atlanta Chapter of the National Academy for the Recording Arts and Sciences in cooperation with the Georgia Music Educators Association has collaborated on an initiative to help teachers and prospective teachers who are seeking employment in Music Education, the Music Industry or fields of employment that match the skills and talents of music educators.
The “What’s Next” event, sponsored by the Atlanta Chapter’s Education Committee is a workshop designed to assist music educators in finding out what opportunities in or out of the music field might be available for individuals newly unemployed. Members from the Education Committee as well as invited panelists will be contacted in order to provide the most comprehensive and meaningful sharing of information and resources to session attendees.
This event will:
· Provide general and perhaps industry information relating to ideas of where to seek or create new work opportunities
· Provide opportunities for attendees to network with the music community and with each other
· Provide resources such as key contact information, websites, and other types of resources to guide attendees on their quest to find employment
· Introduce attendees to the Recording Academy, its purpose, mission, and benefits of membership
There is no cost to attend the workshop. To make a reservation to attend the workshop please contact Jay Wucher by May 24th at the email address listed below:
