Austin - BACKSTAGE VIEW WITH GRAMMY U @ ACL MUSIC FESTIVAL

October 8, 2010 - 12:00am - October 10, 2010 - 12:00am

Would you like an all access pass to ACL and a chance to participate in an interview with one of the festivals’ top acts?  If so, this opportunityis for you!  This summer, The Recording Academy® is in search of enthusiastic college students to assist us in conducting on-site interviews with artists in Zilker Park on October 8-10.  Those who are selected to participate will be invited to hangout backstage and represent the Texas Chapter as we create video blogs for the GRAMMY365 website.

This event is open to all current GRAMMY U members and is a great way to experience ACL from a brand new point of view.  Headquartered in the festival’s ultra-exclusive press area, 1-3 selected student journalists will help interview bands and follow-up with brief blogs for inclusion on GRAMMY365, while 1-3 student videographers will be responsible for filming the interviews and editing the footage they collect.  While the experience gained from this event will be a great resume builder, there will also be a more immediate dividend: an all access pass to the rest of the day’s shows!

If you would like to be considered as either a journalist or a videographer for this opportunity, please review the application guidelines below:

GRAMMY U Journalist Application Requirements
One 3 minute video
Student journalists will be asked to compile questions for artists and conduct themselves professionally on camera.  Use a short video submission to show us your skills and demonstrate your creativity as you interview a fictional band of your choice.  Although a professional recording is not required for this position, video editing skills are a plus.

One written blog

After interviewing an artist for our video blog, GRAMMY U Journalists will be responsible for writing a short recap of their experience for inclusion on the GRAMMY365 website.  Show us your writing ability by blogging about a fictional event.  There are no length requirements for this submission, but feel free to check out our page on GRAMMY365 for some examples of recent blogs.

GRAMMY U Videographer Application Requirements
One 3-5 minute sample of your best work
Student videographers will be responsible for capturing footage of our artist interviews.  Students interested in this position are asked to submit a sample of their best work.  This video can cover any topic of your choice, and should reflect your ability to capture content and edit it on-site in a professional manner.  Be sure to send something that best reflects your artistic style!

A complete listing of your video equipment

Applicants for the GRAMMY U Videographer position must have access to their own recording equipment.  In your application, please include a comprehensive list of your gear (this includes all audio, video, and computer aspects of your set-up used for recording and editing content).  All post-production work will take place on-site, and you must be willing to bring each piece of equipment along with you.

Please submit your application to Brett Rivera at Brett.Rivera@grammy.com no later than Wednesday, September 15.  All submissions will be reviewed by the staff at the Texas Chapter, and late applicants will not be considered.  You must be a current member in good standing of GRAMMY U to be considered for this opportunity.  Those chosen to participate in this event will be responsible for their own travel to and from the festival, and any expenses incurred will not be covered by The Recording Academy.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at any time.
