GRAMMY Career Day''s Full Day Program is Back!

The New York Chapter, The GRAMMY Foundation and Pace University are proud to present GRAMMY Career Day 2011!

Program Overview

Over 700 students from the tri-state area are invited to participate in this national outreach program which provides insight about careers that are available in music, and direction on how to prepare for them. Primarily held on university campuses across the country, GRAMMY Career Day provides an opportunity for students to interact with professionals representing a wide range of careers.

A successful career in the music business is like an iceberg – most people are only aware of one small, dazzling portion or it: the hit single, the catchy video, a platinum album or sold-out concert tour. What’s less visible is the huge amount of time and effort that underlies those achievements.

The program begins with a super panel of top professionals who share their experiences and describe the challenges of their careers both on-stage and behind-the-scenes. Panels may include producers, performers, managers, A&R reps, recording engineers, arrangers, business executives, publishers, educators, attorneys, publicists, music therapists and songwriters. Students then break into smaller groups for hands-on career specific workshops, master classes and/or in depth discussion about the career paths that interest them most.

Past GRAMMY Career Day participants include: Randy Jackson, Kanye West, Anthony Hamilton, John Shanks, Adam Levine , Jesse Carmichael, Dave Koz, Gregg Field, Greg Phillinganes, Lamont Dozier, Jimmy “Jam” Harris, Suzanne Vega, Arturo Sandoval, Boyz II Men, Melissa Etheridge, Terry Ellis, Faith Hill, Goapale, Diane Warren, Manny Marroquin, David Foster, Al Schmitt, Robi Draco Rosa, Juanes, La Ley, Wynonna Judd, Gwen Stefani, Pharell Williams, Chris Brown, Wyclef Jean, LL Cool J, Amerie, Steve Vai, Nick Cannon, Earth, Wind & Fire, Trisha Yearwood, Donnie McClurkin, Ashanté, John Legend, Jon Secada, Fantasia Barrino, Omarion, Kelly Clarkson, Common, Keb’ Mo’, Branford Marsalis, Curtis Mayfield; and many others.
