August 18, 2010 - 5:45pm - 7:00pm
The Recording Academy Philadelphia Chapter, the GRAMMY Foundation and GRAMMY U invite you to meet Billboard chart-topping artist KE$HA. The young singer, signed to RCA Records, broke into the mainstream after her featured performance in Flo Rida’s “Right Round,” and her own singles “Tik Tok” and “Blah Blah Blah” have topped charts worldwide. Recently KE$HA has used her new-found fame to raise money for those affected by the 2010 Nashville flood and Deepwater Horizon oil spill. She is performing at Camden’s Susquehanna Bank Center and is excited to meet with local students to shed light on the realities of careers in the music industry.

GRAMMY SoundChecks are opportunities for a small group of high school and/or college music students (depending on the event) to attend a professional soundcheck of a touring artist and watch the process of preparing for a concert. The artist, and any members of their crew willing to participate, will engage the students in conversation about the specifics of their jobs, and the challenges faced by touring musicians. Artists such as Coldplay, U2, Kanye West, John Mayer, Queen Latifah, Mariah Carey, Phil Collins, Billy Joel and many, many others have participated in these through the years.
*College students wishing to attend must be GRAMMY U members. GRAMMY U is the student level of Recording Academy membership and is open to any college student interested in a career in the music industry, regardless of school major. GRAMMY U members have access to Academy networking and professional development programs in all 12 Chapters as well as exclusive member discounts for only $25 per year — a fraction of the regular cost. Join today to participate and receive invitations for all upcoming events including networking mixers, studio seminars, workshops, performance opportunities, our exclusive professional conference call series, and much more!
