MusiCares invites you to join us for an informative presentation and discussion on the increasing prevalence of medical marijuana, prescription drug, and over-the-counter synthetics usage as it relates to addiction treatment and recovery. Each of these substances presents their own unique, yet similar, challenges that can complicate the recovery process. The presentation promises to offer valuable information and lively discussion while attempting to identify what constitutes true recovery. Participants can also expect to:
1. Develop an increased understanding about the impact medical marijuana has had on the Recovery community and treatment providers.
2. Identify the most commonly abused synthetic drugs and their effects on the user.
3. Learn specific techniques for dealing with addictive prescription medications.
4. Develop strategies that Recovering people and treatment providers can utilize when faced with challenges associated with these types of drugs.
Roland Williamsis a highly regarded interventionist, author, trainer, counselor and consultant specializing in addiction related issues. He is one of the first Licensed Advanced Addictions Counselors in the state of California, as well as a motivational speaker who conducts seminars, workshops, keynote presentations, in addition to staff training, skills building and program development worldwide.
