GRAMMY Camp - SoundChecks offered students the unique opportunity to see first-hand what it takes to produce
the internationally recognized Austin City Limits Music Festival, with an interactive and candid question-and-answer discussion with Lisa Hickey, C3 Presents Sr. Marketing Director. GRAMMY SoundChecks provided high school music and theatre students with a glimpse into the realities of music careers by inviting them to attend an exclusive behind the scenes tour.

The day before the Austin City Limits Music Festival kicked-off its highly anticipated and sold-out tenth year, The Recording Academy Texas Chapter introduced students from Bowie and McCallum Fine Arts Academy to the framework of an event that encompasses thousands of attendees gathering to see 130 bands on eight stages over three days. Thirty students embarked on a widespread tour of the different components of the festival grounds and uncovered the intricate details that go into planning and executing such a large scale event. They saw that behind the glitz and glamour of a music festival is the reality of logistics, production, sound, lighting, permits and planning, food; all of which help ensure a smooth flow and an enjoyable time for attendees throughout the festival's three days.

Following the tour, the Gibson tour bus and Gibson staff were onsite ready to give the students a tour of the bus, refreshments, and free Gibson t-shirts. The students gave an impromtu jam session, with Bowie High School music teacher Ryan Gee playing the piano inside the bus.
