GRAMMY.com

GRAMMY-winning songwriter/producer Christopher "Tricky" Stewart visited The Recording Academy headquarters in Santa Monica, Calif., on July 27 and participated in 5 Questions With…, a new Academy series designed to engage recording artists and professionals on a variety of topics.

Stewart answered questions regarding the importance of membership in The Recording Academy, drawing inspiration from other producers, his favorite moment in the studio, and mentoring.

Asked about what it was like to win a GRAMMY Award, Stewart said, "It tells all your teachers, 'You were wrong about me.' It legitimizes your career and what you did to get here."

An entrepreneur, Stewart is a songwriter, producer, music publisher, executive, and recording studio owner. He won two GRAMMY Awards in 2009 for Best R&B Song and the coveted Song Of The Year award, both for Beyoncé's "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)." Other artists Stewart has worked with include Justin Bieber, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, and Snoop Dogg, among others. Most recently, he lent his producing talents to Katy Perry's sophomore album, Teenage Dream, scheduled for release Aug. 24.
